We could not have been any happier with the job Macfarlane Homes did for us in building our new house in Arrochar. From the moment they were awarded the tender until the day we took possession Mark Capon and his team were really good to work with, always happy to discuss any issues, show us around and take on any ideas we had.
Without exception the team who built the house was a really pleasant group of men but more importantly they were very good tradesmen and we are entirely happy with the finished product.
Inevitably there were one or two snagging issues and Mark was on hand very quickly to get these sorted out.
The house has been admired by everyone who has visited, combining a traditional external look with a very modern interior, but for us it is our home and we are delighted with it.
We would have no reservations whatsoever in recommending Macfarlane Homes to anyone who wants to have a new house built.
Designed by Organic Architects, this property absolutely had to fit with the local area, as it is situated within the boundaries of a National Park. This meant that the home had to have a traditional feel, in keeping with the rest of the village of Arrochar. In order to ensure that the demands of both the Parks Authority and the client were met, we created a home with a traditional exterior, but a modern feel throughout the interior.
This modern interior is made possible thanks to a number of features, including an air source heat pump for underfloor heating. The electricity for the property is supplied by Photovoltaic panels, however the property is also connected to the National Grid as a back-up. Overall, this is one of the most stunning homes you’re likely to see, thanks to the beautiful exterior, modern interior, and the fantastic natural scenery found when looking out over the loch.
Construction This home was built on site, using a timber kit, as requested by the client. The smooth rendered finish and the natural slate roof ensure it keeps a traditional look, while the garden is enhanced massively by a number of large retaining walls. Case windows with double-glazing ensure the home looks great, and that the heat stays locked in.
A very happy client
